Knowle Society History Group has created a small but fascinating exhibition around this topic and the part that Knowle and its people played in it. It covers some of the lesser-known aspects of the time with names of those who were involved in the event itself and their outcomes. There are maps of the landing sites and photographs of some of the vehicles that left Knowle for the invasion, including one of Montgomery’s Rolls-Royce that was shipped over to France. There are photographs of local people who were involved as well as copies of some of the notes that ‘Monty’ kept at the time.
The exhibition will be on show downstairs in the Library until Saturday, then upstairs for a couple of weeks.
