Solihull recycling rates hit six-year high

New figures show recycling rates in Solihull have hit a six-year high, with residents urged to help continue positive improvements by recycling more. Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs figures show that Solihull achieved a recycling rate of 41.5 per cent in the year to March 2023 – the highest out of the West Midlands Combined Authority constituent authorities and the best in the borough since 2016/17. On the back of the new figures and ahead of Global Recycling Day on 18 March, Solihull Council is asking residents to help continue making progress by taking advantage of a string of recent changes which have made recycling in the borough easier:- “We have also just launched a new free small item collection service to collect unwanted small electrical items, household batteries, paint and clothing. “There is lots of information on our website for residents to find out more about recycling and which items they can and cannot recycle.”
