While Knowle Library is being refurbished during early 2008, the Knowle Society’s Local History Centre (LHC) which is normally located upstairs in the Library will also remain closed. The Society has been advised that the Library will reopen on Thursday 27th March. As yet no date has been fixed for the reopening of the LHC but it is will be few weeks after the library reopens.
The long-awaited refurbishment of Knowle Library commenced after the 2007 Christmas holidays and because of this The Knowle Society has closed and relocated its Local History Collection (LHC) temporarily during the period of refurbishment which is expected to last up to and including 26th March. Unfortunately during this period the Collection will not be available and the regular Saturday morning attended sessions will also be suspended. Inevitably the LHC’s own reopening will be further delayed after the Library reopens while the Society returns its collection to its old location. The reopening date of the LHC will be announced in the Parish Magazine and on this website.
The Society intends to use the time to catch up with cataloguing and hopes that new computer and networking facilities at the Library will enhance the service that can be offered after reopening.
