The UK Government’s new Emergency Alerts system is expected to ‘go live’ later this year. This will enable the Government and Emergency Services to alert you, via your mobile phone, to emergencies such as severe flooding. Testing is going on at the moment , so you may receive a test message with a loud sound and a message on your phone telling how to respond. For more information go to gov.uk/alerts.
