Message from Birmingham Airport:-
The Instrument Landing System (ILS) is a vital navigation aid, providing precision approaches for aircraft landing at the Airport in all conditions.
Each year the system requires calibration and I am writing to advise that this is due to take place between 23:00 on Wednesday 11th January and approximately 04:00 on Thursday 12th January
The calibration will be carried out by a light aircraft which will make multiple approaches to the runway before climbing away to repeat the process. Given the aircraft type, it is hoped that disturbance will be minimal. However, as in previous years, the aircraft may operate over locations close to the airfield which aren’t typically overflown.
We apologise for any disturbance this essential safety check may cause.
