Knowle Society is one of several local organisations joining forces to celebrate our historic village in the Knowle Time Machine Heritage Festival with a massive programme of events, primarily on Saturdays 11th and 18th September.
As well as our own exhibition in the Library and Guided Heritage Walks, there will be workshops in ancient skills and family history, outdoor theatre, song and dance, church tower visits, a pig roast and more. The full programme can be found at www.visitknowle.com/events (some events need to be pre-booked). Why not take a look and put in your diary now.
Some volunteers are needed to help on the day with setting up venues and co-ordinating activities etc. If you can spare a couple of hours on one of the days to help make the Festival a success, please email Dave Pinwell (firstname.lastname@example.org)
The previous sales have been very successful, but there’s loads of good stuff for the next one.
Work is well underway on this new link which is intended to relieve pressure on J6 of the M42 and improve access to the NEC and the planned HS2 station. See the website and latest Newsletter at :- https://highwaysengland.co.uk/our-work/west-midlands/m42-junction-6/
The Solihull Half Marathon will cut B93 in two and make getting to Solihull difficult for some for most of the morning. It appears that there will be road closures in Widney Manor Road, Smiths Lane, Browns Lane, Tilehouse Green Lane, Longdon Road, Lodge Road, Warwick Road and Hampton Road from around 9.00am and Kixley Lane/Kenilworth Road/High St from about 9.30am these closures seem to be due to last until about 12:00 to 12:30. (The route of the run can be seen here https://www.runsolihull.com/course-map/). Anyone planning a journey that day may need to plan ahead!!
During the first lockdown Solihull Libraries took the decision to remove fines for overdue items and earlier this year library fines were permanently removed.
Despite the relaxing of fines, the Libraries service is reminding people that it is still important to return overdue library items to their local libraries so that stock can be made available for other residents.
