The Neighbourhood Forum has been very busy in the past year analysing the community’s views on potential locations for any additional housing that we are required to find room for in Knowle. Last week the Council unexpectedly released their plans, which are completely at odds with the emerging local views.
The number of houses proposed is far higher than expected and the sizes of the developments do not fit with the sizes of developments suggested by the community.
The Forum is holding a meeting at Arden Academy at 7pm on Wednesday Dec 7th.
Regrettably work on these has had to take a back seat for a while due to the Local History Committee being the organisers of the Queen’s Birthday Party event in June – a lot of work and time! Consequently the exhibition ‘Sport in Knowle’ – part 1 did not go in until the beginning of September and because of the large amount of material we have in our archives on sport, it has had to be divided into two parts. The first part (September-December), concentrates on cricket, bowling and shooting and the second part, football, golf and tennis will go in during December 2016. This means that “The Bower Family and Knowle Lodge” will go in during March 2017 followed by the first in our series “Knowle’s Historic Houses – Grimshaw Hall”.
The last exhibition of 2017 has still to be decided upon.
2016 – Oct, Nov, Dec – Sport in Knowle (cricket, bowling & shooting))
2017 – Jan, Feb, Mar – Sport in Knowle (football, golf & tennis)
2017 – Mar – The Bower Family and Knowle Lodge
