Village Greens – two new areas agreed

Knowle Society is celebrating a major success in the preservation of TWO green open spaces through their registration as village greens. The two areas border Knowle Park, thereby extending the area of the park for use by local people. Unfortunately, we were not successful in regard to one other area, so this has been lost as a green space open to the public.

More news and maps of the areas will posted in the week beginning 10th October.

Local Nature Reserve – Clear up help request

Two September conservation working days will be taking place in the LNR. Working parties from the Solihull Conservation Volunteers and the Birmingham and Solihull Midweek Volunteers will be there on Sunday 25th September (10.30am to 4.00pm) and then on Thursday 29th September (11.00am to 4.00pm). Anyone who would be willing to help would be welcome.

KDBH ‘Developer Showcase’

Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath Neighbourhood Forum is putting on a unique event of particular interest to Knowle Society members; this is a ‘Developer Showcase’ on Saturday, 16 July at Arden Academy, 10:00-14:00.

At the request of residents attending other recent events, the Forum has arranged this event so that anyone in our community has an early opportunity to gain a better understanding of what land has been put forward for potential development as part of SMBC’s ‘Call of Sites’ last January.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

I am delighted to announce that the Knowle Society has been honoured with the Queen’s award for Voluntary Service.

The achievement of this award recognises and celebrates the activities undertaken by the Society within our local community. I know that without the dedication and hard work of the Trustee Directors, their Committees, Society members and local support, this achievement would not have been possible.

Residents’ Survey for Neighbourhood Forum

Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath Neighbourhood Forum was set up in response to an initiative taken by, amongst others, this Society. The Forum is now making its first foray into gaining opinions from the community and resident are urged to respond to that survey. It appears that Knowle residents have responded well so far with 56% of the 400 replies having come from this community.

Every household should have been delivered a copy of the survey and is encouraged to return it completed or complete it online by 10th June. More details are in the attachments here.
