I agree entirely with every single word in the above post by Lynda Downes.

Parking is already extremely difficult at times, which puts me off shopping in Knowle at the best of times. With developments of this kind there is talk of sustainable transport links. There are suggestions that people will do their shopping and then hop on the bus with it. Hmmm. There is a comment in one report somewhere that a new supermarket creates a negligable number of new car trips. This I found astounding at first, but on reflection i think it means that trips are just re-routing from one existing supermarket to a new one elsewhere. Whatever the reports say, Its only a matter of common sense that Knowle will have more cars, seven days a week, with totally inadequate parking facilities. A prospect I dread.

The very thought of converting the green into a landscaped car park fills me with dread. Car parking is insufficient already and that is as things stand now.If Waitrose succeed in having a store in the midst of a residential area, it will also attract many people from a other far flung areas to shop in Knowle and the proposed extra spaces will be swallowed up with traffic chugging around St John's Close and all roads that exit the close. imagine this seven days a week. The roads in the vicinity of Knowle cannot support this undoubted increase in use by car and delivery vehicles.

We feel that (i) traffic flow and (ii) car parking issues have not been fully addressed.

At the present time traffic flow is often chaotic and worsened by large commercial vehicles. The situation will be exacerbated by the introduction of the Waitrose Store (attractive though that may be).

Maybe the Green could be suitably landscaped and converted into a large car park.

I agree with Su Lewis.
The curved area and indeed the majority of St Johns Close is already parked full of shop workers in the weekdays. Some even partially obstruct driveways at times if they are running late. Making it harder for those of us with a drive to get onto our driveway.

They will not use the special long stay car park in Lodge Road as it is too far to walk, and some of them choose to use the shoppers car parks and in a break move to a fresh spot.
I do not know how many extra workers they will need for their "small" store.
But I would estimate perhaps 70??

I understand that the revised car parking will only create approx 54 NEW spaces. Waitrose staff will be banned from parking in any of those car parks, so where will they park? On the already congested roads?
