How To Help

The Knowle Society  Home ] Up ]

Your village needs you!

Knowle is a lovely place. Its qualities include a beautiful High Street, a lively shopping centre, good schools, sport and social facilities, and fine housing. The Knowle Society is dedicated to keeping these high standards. If you agree with us and/or want to help, please join us. We have over 3000 members, and the larger we are the more our voice counts. Membership will cost you just £3 p.a. (£5 for a family, £25 for corporate membership). We need help to support our work, to make Knowle even better, to preserve the best, to improve the worst. We do this through our Committees (working groups). These specialise in:
Planning - To encourage building applications of good quality and design. To oppose building applications that spoil the environment. To protect our conservation area.
Community Services - To encourage sensible traffic control, parking and planning. To represent The Knowle Society on local committees that impact Knowle, such as the Airport and Police.
Environment - To monitor and encourage improvement in the visual amenity and green areas of the community.
Local History - To curate and maintain an ongoing visual and audio history of Knowle through the Local History Centre and Archive.
Events and Meetings - To devise and arrange a programme of social events for members (mainly talks & walks), and a monthly meeting of members.
Newsletters - Delivery of newsletters to members' homes, giving news about the Society's concerns and activities.
Please support us if you agree with our aims and work. See the Membership page for an application form.
If you would like to help the Society in any way, please contact the chairman of the group that interests you, or the secretary@knowlesociety.org.uk
