Now that most shops are open and the car parks are getting busy, the Council has decided that parking charges will resume in Knowle car parks on Weds July 1st with the new rates, including 2 hrs free:-

Monday to Saturday 08:00 – 18:00
Up to 2 hours – free
(a valid “free-stay” ticket must be displayed).

2-3 hours – £1.20
3-4 Hours – £2.20
4-6 hours  – £3.20
Over 6 hours – £4.00

These have now returned to the normal schedule and the West Midlands ‘Older Persons’ and ‘Disabled Persons’ passes extension for travel before 9:30 am has been withdrawn from all busses and trains.

We regret that the continuing restrictions on gatherings and the closure of Knowle Library mean that we will be unable to run our usual programme of events until at least the end of September.  Look out for updates through this email service for our re-launch arrangements.

From Monday 6 July staff will start issuing books through a new Click and Collect scheme at The Core. This will be followed by similar schemes at Chelmsley Wood Library and Shirley Library from Monday 20 July. No news about Knowle Library yet.

Forms will be available online from Monday 29 June for collections from The Core and from Monday 13 July for Chelmsley Wood and Shirley Libraries. Anyone unable to use the online form can place an order by phoning 0121 704 8001. The Home Library service will also restart on 6 July.

Alongside this:

  • There will be no charges for overdue materials for the time being
  • Any cards due to expire before 30 June will be extended so membership will not lapse
  • Loans will be extended until 30 September
  • Reservations will be temporarily suspended
  • New members will be able to take out online membership to access a full range of online resources and eBooks
  • Visit our website for access to E- Audio, books, magazines and newspapers.

If you need to contact the library service please email or call 0121 704 6965, including to arrange to return your borrowed books.

The Society’s appeal for funds to support patients and staff at Solihull Hospital is now closing, having raised £1634, including Gift Aid.  The Hospital Charity is very grateful for this assistance.
