– We aim to start around 6.30pm, though may be a few minutes late depending on how many photos people want in Knowle.

– If anyone wants to help out as an Elf, or just walk with the Sleigh, you are very welcome to do so. Let us know as we come past.

CHRISTMAS STARTS HERE

Next Wednesday, 27th November, marks the Grand Opening of the Christmas Season in Knowle.  This is going to be the biggest and best launch evening ever.  It starts with the ceremony of switching on the lights along the High Street and on the Christmas Tree. The festivities start at 4pm outside the Guild House, with Christmas carols and the music of the Ardennaires and Father Christmas arriving in his sleigh to switch on the lights.

The evening will continue with Late Night Shopping, with many of the shops staying open until 9.00pm; pop-up shops in the Greswolde; street food available around the village; and singing and music throughout the evening.  The schedule is:

5.30 – 6.00           Knowle Parish Church Choir       Outside Theo Georgio
6.00 – 7.00           Group from Penny’s                     Outside Penny’s
6.10 – 6.40           Daffodil Choir                               Outside Marie Curie
6.50 – 7.20           Knowle Male Voice Choir           Outside Theo Georgio
7.30 – 8.10           Caroline Butler                             Outside the Greswolde
All timings approximate.

Kenilworth Rd will be closed outside the Church as usual (from 4:00pm to 5:30pm) while Father Christmas is with us.  Also the service road to the car parks from the High Street will be closed between Loch Fyne and the former Janito’s (from 4.00pm to 9.30pm), access to the Car Parks will be from St Johns Close only.

The additional road closure means that we we need more marshals than we normally do, so if you could volunteer a couple of hours in any of the below time slots, let us know by replying to this email and our events team will contact you with more information.

4pm – 6pm
6pm – 8pm
8pm – 9.30pm

You would be helping to direct any drivers who want to use the road and letting them know the other entrances are fine.

Breaking News – the car parks will be FREE from 4:00pm that day, so NO excuse not to come along and support the Village while having a great time.

LEAF COLLECTING – STREET SWEEPING

You may have noticed/been held up by the contractors clearing the leaves from various streets in the area this week.  The ones the Council have decided are the most affected by large amounts of leaves that need to be cleared are:-

THIS WEEK:-
Knowle:- Lodge Road, Longdon Road, Hampton Road, Milverton Road, Kixley Lane, Kenilworth Road, Wychwood Avenue, Warwick Road (Stripes Hill), Broadfern Road, and Holland Avenue.

Bentley Heath:- Widney Lane, Mill Lane, Browns Lane, Smiths Lane, Four Ashes Road, Tilehouse Green Lane, Box Trees Road, Conker Lane.

NEXT WEEK:-
Dorridge:-
Avenue Road, Dorridge Road, Gladstone Road, Clyde Road, Grenville Road, Paddock Drive, Knowle Wood Road, Earlswood Drive.

We can do our bit to help by minimising the number of cars parked on these roads these weeks and by clearing the leaves near our own homes on streets not on the list.  It’s just a pity the Green Bins collection is about to end – or has already ended for some (including me!)
