The Council has reviewed the plans for increased on-street parking restrictions and has amended SOME of them following comments from residents and businesses in Knowle. [Some of the comments were contradictory.] The notice (see below) is being published around the affected areas and the new yellow lines and signs will be installed in the next two weeks. The Council has made this Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area) (Metropolitan Borough of Solihull) Order 2007, where applicable, and all other enabling powers. A copy of the Order is available upon request. Anyone wishing to question the validity or provisions of the Order should apply to the High Court within six weeks from the date that the Order became effective. The Order, which comes into force on 31 August 2018, will introduce the following:

Society Walk Sunday 2pm on 12th August Hockley Heath & Lapworth 4 miles

Meet at 1:45pm at Hockley Heath Pavilion, which is on the Old Warwick Rd, Hockley Heath, B4439.  Not far from the A3400 junction and at the back of the Rybrook car sales showroom. [The one with the McLaren cars!!]

The walk will be 4 miles, mainly fields and canal, with a little road walking.  It will take in the obelisk overlooking the M40, Nuthurst Grange and Lapworth Church.

“An Evening at the Opera” with Gaynor Keeble

The Fundraising committee for the Knowle Village Hall has arranged “ An Evening at the Opera” with Gaynor Keeble ( mezzo soprano) and Friends on Saturday 8th September at the Hall  : 7.30p.m.  Gaynor is a well known Opera singer, having been with the English National Opera, and has sung many roles at the Royal Opera House and other places. The programme will be of popular classics as well as some G. and S etc. She has also sung in oratorios such as “The Dream of Gerontius”
